The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) on  has lifted the suspension that was imposed on the All India Football Federation (AIFF) due to undue third-party influence.

On August 25, the Bureau of the FIFA Council has decided to lift the ban on AIFF with immediate effect as it will allow India to stage the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022.

FIFA stated,  "Bureau of the Council decided on 25 August to lift the suspension of the AIFF with immediate effect. As a consequence, the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup  2022 scheduled to take place on 11-30 October 2022 can be held in India as planned."

FIFA issued a statement after banning AIFF, which mentioned, "due to excessive interference of third parties, it has been decided to suspend the All India Football Federation."

The whole controversy was triggered when former AIFF president Praful Patel didn't hold the elections even after the completion of his duration as the president. Eventually, the Supreme Court of India intervened in the matter and constituted a committee to frame a new constitution.

In order to keep the hosting rights of the Under-17 women's world cup, the Central government earlier moved an application in the Supreme Court to end the tenure of the Committee of Administrators (CoA) as demanded by the world football governing body.
