The FIFA World Cup returns after a wait of four years in Qatar. The tournament will kick off with hosts Qatar facing Ecuador at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor on 20 November. With this fixture, the group stage of the tournament starts where 32 teams are divided into eight groups of four.

Each team will face the remaining three teams of their respective group in single round-robin matches. The winners of each group will reach the round of 16 stage of the tournament and from there play the quarterfinals, semi-finals and the final on 18 December at the Lusail Iconic Stadium in Lusail.

Going back to the first match, both Qatar and Ecuador have been playing well on their road to the World Cup. Both teams have a solid group of players which could guarantee fans an exciting opening game. The host nations have also been lucky throughout the history of the World Cup and hence the Al-Annabi would want to continue this tradition.
