Legendary Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan has been accused of being involved in a murder case. Hasan, who is not a strange name to controversy, has found himself in hot waters again as an FIR has been filed against him in Dhaka. The former skipper of Bangladesh team, is currently in Pakistan for a two-match Test series.
The case was filed by Rafiqul Islam, father of the victim who was shot down on August 5 during the student protests in Bangladesh earlier this month. According to local media, Adabor Police Station Inspector Md Nazrul Islam confirmed that an FIR has been filed against the cricketer. As per the media, Rafiqul’s son Rubel was also part of the rally that took place in Abador. During the protests, shots were fired and Rubel was shot in his chest.
The victim succumbed to injuries and passed away a few days later. Notably, a total of 156 names have been listed in the case including former PM Sheikh Hasina, who fled from the country, as well as former Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Nazmul Hassan and more. Apart from them, several organisations, including the Bangladesh Awami League, Chhatra League, Jubo League, Sramik League, and others were also named.
Notably, Shakib has been a crucial all-rounder for the side across all the formats. The batter has scored 4,505 runs and picked 237 wickets in 67 matches he played for the side. Not only this, but he is also the highest wicket-taker among his country’s bowlers.
