Notably, the deepfake video of the Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar had a digitally manipulated clip and voice of him promoting a gaming app, which was shared on Facebook. In his post regarding the matter on the official X account, the 50-year-old wrote, “These videos are fake. It is disturbing to see rampant misuse of technology. Request everyone to report videos, ads & apps like these in large numbers.”
“Social Media platforms need to be alert and responsive to complaints. Swift action from their end is crucial to stopping the spread of misinformation and deepfakes,” remarked Sachin Tendulkar while tagging the official X accounts of the Indian Ministry of Electronics & IT and its Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar, and Maharashtra Cyber.
Moreover, Sachin Tendulkar was a part of the One World One Family Cup match on his return to cricket on Thursday, January 18. He captained One World to a four-wicket against the One Family team led by Yuvraj Singh, but more than the result itself, this charity match was organised to raise awareness and support for child health.
