Los Angeles Lakers coach Darvin Ham found himself on the hot seat following the team’s poor performance after the NBA In-Season tournament. After winning the inaugural season of the tournament, the NBA giants saw an unexpected slump in performance, and in their last ten matches, the LeBron James featuring side could only manage to come on top of two matches. In their recent clash against the Memphis Grizzlies, the Lakers lost the game by 14 points despite being in the lead by the end of the first half.

The sudden slump in the team's performance has got the coach on the fans’ radar, who are demanding that Ham resign from the position of head coach. However, Ham thinks that the NBA is a marathon and one is supposed to look at the bigger picture. The 50-year-old said, "This is the NBA, it's a marathon. You have to look at the overall picture, I'm tired of people taking each game for life or death. It's ridiculous. Come on man, it's a marathon, we're in a rut but we're the same team. We have played high-level matches not long ago, we have to get back there. We have to keep fighting."

Earlier, there were reports of a deepening disconnect between Ham and the Lakers’ locker room. However, just before the Friday night clash against Memphis Grizz, ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported that Ham has the full support of the Lakers’ management. Ham was quoted as saying, “I'm solid. My governor, Jeanie Buss, the boss lady; our president, Robert Pelinka -- we're all aligned. As long as they're not saying it, I guess I'm good. Which I know how they feel about me and the situation we're currently in.”

They have won just three of their 13 matches after winning the inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament. Despite decent performances from the Lakers' star players including LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Austin Reaves, the Lakers have failed to dominate their opponents. The Lakers are currently on a four-game losing streak in the 2023-24 NBAA regular season, which has prompted fans to demand head coach Drawin Ham's resignation.
