Gamescom 2023, the world's largest event for computer and video games, is just around the corner. From August 23 to 27, gamers and industry professionals will gather in Cologne, Germany, to discover the latest games, innovations, and trends. The event will kick off with Gamescom: Opening Night Live, a two-hour show hosted by Geoff Keighley that will feature new trailers, gameplay reveals, developer interviews, and more.

Here are five major game announcements that are expected at Gamescom 2023:

1. GTA 6

The GTA franchise is one of the most popular games of all time, historically, and the next edition has been the topic of speculation. The excitement among aficionados has grown over time. There’s a chance that Rockstar will steal the show at this year’s Gamescom by teasing the widely anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6.

Although the sixth installment is currently under development, a release date has not yet been announced. The largest map ever seen in a GTA game and ground-breaking gameplay changes are both reportedly coming to GTA 6. The most significant announcement of 2023 will occur if Rockstar releases GTA 6 at this year's Gamescom.

2. Silent Hill: A Haunting Return

Recent rumors hint at the unveiling of the official release date for the long-awaited Silent Hill 2 remake.  Insider insights from Gamer: Dusk Golem have also fueled discussions about potential updates on the enigmatic projects Silent Hill Ascension and Silent Hill Townfall. There is still no concrete information about the release date of Silent Hill Townfall, so it remains a mystery. In addition, gamers have only seen one announcement trailer for the upcoming remake of Silent Hill 2.

3. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Remake

As we already know from the PlayStation showcase of 2023, the legendary Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater is set for an exciting comeback. Virtuoso and Konami worked together to create the game and aside from the brief teaser, no information about the project is known. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. During Gamescom 2023, Konami may reveal a gameplay trailer or provide updates on the Metal Gear project.

4. Resident Evil’s Chilling Future:

Resident Evil 9, which would continue Capcom's Resident Evil series journey, might be released at Gamescom 2023. The publisher might also announce another remake game, possibly Resident Evil 5 or the highly requested Code Veronica survival horror classic.

5) Wolverine

While Insomniac Games orchestrates the release of Spider-Man 2, gamers hold their breath for a potential glimpse into the enigmatic world of Wolverine. Everyone was intrigued by the project's teaser, which shows a bloody bar scene and makes them want to know more. It is possible that the fan-favorite character will make an appearance at this year's Gamescom, which is expected to reveal some major surprises. If Marvel and Insomniac choose to release particular patches, Wolverine might be one of the key features of Gamescom 2023.
