5. Australia becomes the only side to win two consecutive Champions Trophy titles
Australia handed New Zealand a six-wicket defeat in the Champions Trophy 2009 final and became the first and only team to defend the title successfully in the illustrious 50-over over competition. Batting first after winning the toss, New Zealand could post only 200/9 in their 50 overs. Chasing the score, the Men in Yellow lost Tim Paine and skipper Ricky Ponting early but Shane Watson stood tall and stitched a 128-run partnership with Cameron Green. Ponting and his men chased down the score in 45.2 overs and Watson became the Player of the Match for his scintillating 105-run knock off 129 deliveries.
