Mumbai Indians batter, Suryakumar Yadav is currently going through a lean phase in his cricketing career. The top batter in T20I rankings, Yadav got a golden duck in Mumbai’s last clash, and has managed to score only 16 runs in three matches in season 16 of the Indian Premier League. He was also in poor form during the India vs Australia three-match ODI series and got three consecutive golden ducks during the series. Needless to say, the out-of-form cricketer is going through a lot of pressure right now.  However, former Pakistan cricketer, Wasim Akram, has come into Suryakumar’s defense, and backed the Mumbai Indians’ batter while he is struggling to score runs.

Coming to Yadav’s rescue, Akram said, “Look, he (Suryakumar Yadav) is a great player, and everyone is aware of it. A batsman cannot be out of form because if you are out of form then you tend to defend the first two deliveries and don’t go after hitting."

“Here, the team management will have to back him and tell him you are our match-winner. I am sure that guy has the ability to win the game on his own and will win one game which will look like an unbelievable performance,” he further added.

The Pakistan veteran has said something similar about Virat Kohli ahead of India’s match against Pakistan during Asia Cup. He said, “He is extraordinary. He is averaging 50-plus in all formats, he is still fit as a fiddle, he is still one of the best fielders in the Indian squad and like they say, form is temporary, class is forever. That is Virat Kohli. I am sure he will come back, and score runs. I hope he doesn’t come back against Pakistan, but he will make a comeback.”

Mumbai Indians have lost three out of the four matches they have played in IPL 2023, where Suryakumar Yadav could score 15, 1, and 0. They will now go head-to-head with Kolkata Knight Riders in the ESA Day encounter on Sunday, April 16.
