Former England cricketer Sarah Taylor welcomed a baby with her partner Diana Main on July 6. The baby boy, who is named Laurie, was born this week following Taylor announcing the pregnancy over Twitter. The post shows Taylor and her partner cuddling with the baby in various poses. Fans quickly took to the comments to congratulate the 34-year-old on her new family.

The former cricketer is considered among the greatest wicketkeepers in the history of the women’s game. She is also a three-time World Champion and holds records as the player with the highest dismissals affected and as England’s third-highest ODI run-scorer.

While most people were hugely supportive of the pair, there were some in the comments that were negative about her sexuality. In response to this, Taylor once again reaffirmed her identity and stated, "Yes, I am a lesbian, every family is different." The recent post showing off her baby is facing less criticism. It read "What a week it’s been with this little boy! Welcome to the world Laurie”. She then tagged her partner and mentioned, "You two are my world. So proud of you."

In February this year, the former England cricketer took to Twitter to announce that she and her partner were expecting a child. Taylor shared an image with her partner in the hospital as well as pictures of her sonography session. The post read, "Being a mother has always been my partner's dream. The journey hasn't been an easy one but Diana has never given up. I know she will be the best mum and I'm so happy to be a part of it x 19 weeks to go and life will be very different!"

Taylor retired from international cricket in 2019 as a result of mental health and anxiety issues. Speaking about her situation the 34-year-old stated, "You’re very negative. Everything is the worst-case scenario. My panic attacks would come because I couldn’t breathe properly. I’d spend the entire day focusing on breathing."
