Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has decided to use his Rajya Sabha salary for the education and welfare of the daughters of farmers in the country. He notified about the same via social media and stated that he would like to contribute to the nation-building process. Taking to Twitter, he wrote, "As a Rajya Sabha member, I want to contribute my RS salary to the daughters of farmers for their education & welfare. I've joined to contribute to the betterment of our nation and will do everything I can. Jai Hind".

Harbhajan was elected unopposed as the Rajya Sabha member from Punjab after Aam Aadmi Party opted for him as their candidate. He had said that he would promote sports as he has been entrusted a responsibility that he will fulfill sincerely. Harbhajan is currently doing commentary with Star Sports for the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Check out his announcement here:

The 41-year-old recently grabbed the headline after he opined that India's 2011 World Cup triumph was only possible due to teamwork and not based on individual performances. He said this as a part of his IPL 2022 analysis prior to the game between the Delhi Capitals and the Kolkata Knight Riders last weekend. The other experts present during the show were his former teammates Irfan Pathan and Mohammad Kaif.

Singh said, "When Australia wins the World Cup, at that time, everyone says 'Australia won the World Cup'. When India won the World Cup at that time, everyone said, 'MS Dhoni won the World Cup. Toh baaki ke 10 waha lassi peene gaye the?," said Harbhajan Singh. "What did the other 10 players do? What did Gautam Gambhir do? What did the others do? It's a team game. When 7-8 players play well, only then only your team will progress", he added.

Singh also received some backlash. Notably, while MSD's world-cup winning six grabbed all the limelight as he finished with an unbeaten 91, in the same match, Gautam Gambhir had also played a crucial role in the run-chase with a brilliant knock of 97.
