Bryan Braman’s NFL journey can be said as an unconventional one, he went undrafted in 2011, but still, he earned his way to the Houston Texan as a free agent. What followed was a seven-season NFL career in which he played for Philadelphia Eagles as well. His 97 regular-season games and recorded 56 career tackles established him as a fearless special-teams play and electric presence on the field. But sadly, his electric presence will never be felt again, on or off the field.

The former NFL linebacker died on Thursday, July 17, at the age of 38, having been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer in February. According to ESPN, his death was confirmed by his agent Sean Stellato. Braman had been undergoing care in Seattle, where he had received CAR-T cell therapy. He is survived by his daughters, Blakely and Marlowe, aged 11 and eight. His diagnosis was first shared publicly in February through a GoFundMe campaign created to support his medical costs; the fundraiser revealed the further stages of his treatment as well.

In his final season, Bryan Braman won Super Bowl LII for Eagles

Bryan Braman’s last professional game was the Super Bowl, marking the end of his career in style in 2017. His final game came in Super Bowl LII, where he notched a tackle in the Philadelphia Eagles’ iconic win over the New England Patriots. The Eagles team won the match by 41-33, his pivotal tackle in the game ensured them their first NFL championship since 1960. In a report by Guardian, reflecting on his life and career, Braman once said, “The three greatest accomplishments in my life (are) my seven NFL seasons, the Super Bowl win, and my daughters.”

Tributes started pouring in as soon as the news of his death was given. Braman’s former Texans teammate, JJ Watt paid tribute on social media, writing, “Rest in Peace brother, gone too soon.” Sean Stellato, his agent posted a framed, signed jersey from Braman on his instagram stories with the caption “My heart hurts. I love you Bryan.”
