Mumbai Indians (MI) secured a 21-run victory over the Gujarat Titans (GT) on May 30 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in the Eliminator match of the IPL 2025. In the first innings MI posted an imposing total of 228/5 in their 20 overs. Rohit Sharma led from the front with a blistering knock of 81 runs off 50 balls, anchoring the innings with fluency and aggression. He was well-supported by contributions from Jonny Bairstow, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya, who capitalized on the death overs to accelerate the scoring. Despite some decent spells from the GT bowlers, MI’s powerful middle and late-order hitting ensured a formidable target was set, putting significant pressure on GT’s chase.
Sai Sudharsan led GT’s run-chase with a blistering innings of 80 of 49 balls. After losing skipper Shubman Gill early, Sudarshan anchored the innings and guided his team through a tough run chase. He was well supported by Washington Sundar for quite some while before he was cleaned up by Jasprit Bumrah. Late efforts from Rutherford, Sharukh Khan and Rahul Tewatia went in vain as MI secured a closely contested victory over GT to keep their IPL 2025 campaign alive.
