The sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) got underway on Friday as defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) took on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. GT captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bowl first. The decision seemed to be working for GT as Mohammed Shami struck early, to send back Devon Conway.

However, Moeen Ali, sent in to bat ahead of Ben Stokes changed the momentum in CSK’s favour. The England all-rounder took on Joshua Little, Rashid Khan as well as Hardik Pandya. Ruturaj Gaikwad also unleashed from the other end, taking Shami and Pandya to the cleaners. The opening batter scored a half-century in just 23 balls to stamp his authority straight away.

Although Rashid Khan struck to send back Ali and then Ben Stokes, CSK continued to toy with the Gujarat bowlers.

Meanwhile, CSK fans were elated as ever at this dominating show from the four-time champions.
