On Monday, July 22, Team India Head Coach Gautam Gambhir confirmed the appointments of the members of the coaching staff. Addressing the press conference ahead of team’s departure for Sri Lanka for the upcoming limited-overs series.
While the upcoming tour will serve as Gambhir’s first international assignment as coach, the former Indian cricketer also opened up on the other members of the coaching staff, who will join him. "Really happy. The BCCI have agreed to most of the things I have asked for. I keep reading these stuff. Abhishek, as assistant coach. And Ryan ten Doeschate, as assistant coach. You will get to know the exact support staff after the Sri Lanka series,” he said during the press conference.
Gambhir also added that Abhishek Nayar, Sairaj Bahutule, T Dilip and Ryan ten Doeschate will join him in Colombo for the upcoming series.
"This is the crux of the coaching staff. But we have a lot of time. We will have time after the Sri Lanka series. I have had some really good feedback from the players. I hope Abhishek and Ryan have a successful stint as coaches." Gambhir further added.

India tour of Sri Lanka to begin with T20Is from July 27
The Men in Blue, under the leadership of new T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav will begin the three-match T20I series at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele. The three T20Is are scheduled to be played on July 27, 28 and 30 at 7:00 pm IST. The tour will next move to the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo with the three-match ODI series set to be played from August 2 to 7.
