Conducting the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2021 has been one of the biggest challenges faced by the BCCI in the recent past. Though the body shifted the remaining 31 matches of the 14th edition to UAE, the availability of foreign players still remains an issue for it. While Ashley Giles, the managing director of England cricket team, has already hinted that the English players would not be a part of the mega event in UAE, many other players from different countries also seem less interested in playing the remainder of the tournament.
However, in the latest update related to the issue, a good news has arrived for BCCI and the fans of the domestic T20 league. As per latest media reports, majority of the IPL-bound Australian players would be a part of the second phase that will take place in UAE.
Players like Glenn Maxwell, Jhye Richardson, Kane Richardson, Marcus Stoinis and Daniel Sams - all of which will not be travelling to West Indies with the national squad due to personal reasons - and the ones who have not been picked for the outing to the Caribbean and Bangladesh are likely to be a part of remainder of IPL 2021.
IPL 2021 schedule likely to be changed
According to the latest update, the schedule of the mega event is likely to be changed in order to give Team India players a 14-day break ahead of the T20 World Cup slated to take place in UAE and Oman. As per reports, the tentative schedule sees the remainder of the tournament getting kicked off on September 19 with the final being played on October 15, while the change in dates would see the final of the tournament taking place on October 10.
Notably, the main event of the World T20 will start by the last week of October, hence, concluding IPL 2021 by October 10 would give the Indian players much-needed break as they would move to UAE for IPL directly after the end of their England tour.
