Indian veteran Ravichandran Ashwin, who was recently a part of the Men in Blue for the two-match Test and three-match ODI series in the Caribbean, was in attendance for the all-crucial India vs Pakistan match at the Asian Champions Trophy. Ashwin, who has played a pivotal role in the Indian colours was seen alongside Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin and even took the field before the start of the match.

The Indian off spinner also took some time off to interact with the players, among which was Indian goalkeeper PR Sreejesh. The two also exchanged hugs before they moved out of the field.
However, after the conclusion of the match in which India thrashed Pakistan 4-0 to enter the semifinals, Sreejesh revealed the conversation the two greats of their respective games had. While talking to Time of India, Sreejesh said, “It was a great gesture from him. He is a legend, a senior player, current international team member, and still he recognized me. He came to say hi. It is something I can cherish for my lifetime because nobody does that. Seriously.”
India to play Japan on August 11, 2023
The Harmanpreet Singh-led side beat arch-rivals Pakistan to knock them out of the tournament. India and Pakistan, who have been the most successful teams in the Asian Champions Trophy, had a neck-and-neck encounter but India came out on the winning side, beating Pakistan 4-0.
The Indian hockey team will now face defending champions Japan in the semifinals on August 11. On the other hand, South Korea will face Malaysia in the second semifinal and the winner of both these matches will take on each other in the final summit clash.
