Mumbai Indians (MI) are the five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions, and with that, they are joint-highest league title holders alongside arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Over the years, MI have created a legacy in the IPL with their incredible consistency in the league, and it was built on the shoulders of some of the greatest players in cricket history, including names like Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Lasith Malinga, and Harbhajan Singh, among others.
In the ongoing 2025 season of the IPL, MI are in the fight to clinch the league title for the record sixth time in history, and they wouldn’t have found themselves in this position without getting the best out of a lot of players over the years. Check out the list of players making it to the greatest all-time XI of MI.
Here is the Greatest all-time XI of Mumbai Indians:
Openers: Rohit Sharma (c), Sachin Tendulkar
Rohit Sharma captained Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles in history, including the first one in 2013 when he was thrusted into the leadership role in the middle of the season, while his batting exploits are well known, scoring nearly 6,000 runs for them in more than 225 matches with a couple of hundreds. The initial years of MI in the IPL were all about Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, who carried the batting lineup of the franchise on his back, scoring 2,599 runs in 91 matches with a solitary ton.
Middle Order: Lendl Simmons, Suryakumar Yadav, Ambati Rayudu (wk)
Lendl Simmons is one of the most underrated players in MI history, making key contributions in the knockout stages during their two IPL title wins in 2015 and 2017, and all in all, he scored 1,175 runs in just 32 matches with one century. Suryakumar Yadav is currently one of the best hitters in T20 cricket, and his ascend to the top of the mountain began after he got signed by MI, and he has accumulated over 3,400 runs in more than 100 matches with two hundreds at an impressive strike-rate.
All-Rounders: Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard
Hardik Pandya is the captain of MI in the IPL currently, and he has been a part of MI in all their five title wins, scoring valuable runs at a rate of knotts in the middle order apart from taking key wickets time and again. Kieron Pollard was one of the most feared all-round cricketers in T20 cricket during his heyday, and he played a massive role in elevating MI to the next level during their five IPL championship victories from 2013 to 2020.
Bowlers: Harbhajan Singh, Lasith Malinga, Jasprit Bumrah, Mitchell McClenaghan
Harbhajan Singh was the premier spin bowler of MI for the better part of a decade since the inception of the IPL in 2008, taking 147 wickets in 158 matches with an exceptional economy rate. Lasith Malinga is widely regarded as one of the greatest T20 bowlers of all-time, and he proved his mettle with MI by taking 195 wickets in just 139 matches.
Jasprit Bumrah is currently recognised as one of the greatest bowlers of all-time, and in T20 cricket, his defensive bowling skills are unparalleled, going at an economy of just seven runs per over in more than 140 matches while taking in excess of 170 wickets. Mitchell McClenaghan played for MI from 2015 to 2019, taking 71 wickets in 56 matches, showing his effectiveness in both the early and latter stages of the innings.
Impact Substitute: Krunal Pandya
Krunal Pandya was a very decent contributor for MI with bat, ball, and in the field just like his younger brother Hardik Pandya, winning three IPL titles with them during his career with them from 2016 to 2021.
