On Sunday, March 9, newly formed Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Gujarat Titans (GT) appointed former Australia wicketkeeper-batter Matthew Wade as their assistant coach. The decision from the 2022 IPL winners came just days ahead of the IPL 2025, which will commence from Saturday, March 22 in Kolkata with the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

Wade, who played two seasons with the Titans in 2022 and 2024, will once again don the Gujarat Titans’ blue kit as he begins his tenure as their assistance coach. In the two seasons, Wade scored 159 runs from 12 matches. In 2024, Wade announced retirement from international cricket and did not register for the auction.
