Lasith Malinga is undoubtedly one of the legends of the game, having taken so many wickets for Sri Lanka and Mumbai Indians over the years. Known for his slinging action, the right-arm pacer used to wreak havoc on the field of cricket with his incredible range of variations. On 28 August 2021, Saturday, the ever-young Malinga is celebrating his 38th birthday and the cricket fraternity is expressing their love for the player with some heartwarming messages on social media.

Amid all this, Mumbai Indians cricketer Hardik Pandya had a very cheeky way of wishing his former franchise teammate. The duo have played so many matches together over the years, winning numerous titles with MI. They share a special bond with each other which was very well reflected in Pandya's birthday post for Malinga.

Lasith Malinga is also very widely known for his unique hairstyle, beginning a trend of dense curls across the world. Reflecting on the same, Hardik posted a photo of his son Agastya with a Malinga-style hair wig. Alongside it, the 27-year-old also added the image of Sri Lankan legend.

The duo of Agastya and Malinga looks absolutely adorable side-by-side in a similar hairstyle. Hardik wishes the cricketer through the caption in the tweet and adds that his son is one of Malinga's biggest fans.

Mumbai Indians post special video on Malinga's birthday

The 5-time IPL champions also paid a tribute to Lasith Malinga on his 38th birthday by posting a special video to acknowledge the services of the legendary cricketer for the franchise. The right-arm pacer played 122 matches for MI in IPL, taking 170 wickets at a phenomenal economy rate of only 7.14. In the video, many MI players and staff members like Ishan Kishan, Parthiv Patel, Krunal Pandya, Robin Singh, Jayant Yadav etc. can be seen giving their birthday messages for the Sri Lankan pacer.

Hardik Pandya also features in the video as he had another message for Malinga where he says, "Mali, many many happy returns of the day. You are turning 38 but you are still, for all of us, the youngster who came in international cricket I don't know how many years back. But yeah, we love you. Thank you for creating such beautiful memories for lots of cricketers."
