Harry Singh, a young cricketer, made his debut for England during their first Test match against Sri Lanka in Manchester. Singh served as the 12th man and took the field early as England decided to bat first in the game. Later, he took the field again in the post-lunch session as a substitute for Harry Brook. Harry, a 20-year-old cricketer is an opening batter and represents Lancashire after having landed his first rookie contract in 2023.
The English cricketer is the son of former India cricketer Rudra Pratap Singh, who represented Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket and went on to represent India in two ODIs against Australia in 1986. He is not the one who was a part of India's T20 World Cup-winning side in 2007. Throughout his career, the left-arm fast bowler played 59 FC matches and scalped 150 wickets at an average of 32.37 including five five-wicket hauls and scoring 1413 runs.
Not only this, but Rudra also played 21 List A games and picked 26 wickets in them averaging at 26.26 including a fifer. His last competitive game was in the Duleep Trophy in 1991 where he represented Central Zone against North Zone. Following his retirement, RP Singh transitioned into coaching and moved to England in the late 1990s. There, he married a British citizen and worked with Lancashire County Cricket Club and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
Harry, born in June 2004 attended Clitheroe Royal Grammar School and followed the footsteps of his father. Harry made his A debut for Lancashire in the One-Day Cup and in seven matches, he scored 87 runs at an average of 12.42 striking at 64.44 with the highest score of 25. Not only this, but he also picked two wickets in the game. Singh was a part of England’s U-19 team for the home series against Sri Lanka in 2022.
