Los Angeles Lakers icon LeBron James opened up about his son Bronny James’ decision about his future at USC. Bronny entered the transfer portal, and there is no clarity about his NCAA future. While most fans think he will end up at another college year, the NBA Draft also stands as one of the possibilities. During the Lakers’ game against the Raptors, LeBron James was questioned about his son’s future, and the four-time NBA champion said that Bronny would have to make the call.
LeBron said, “He’s his own man. At the end of the day, Bronny’s his own man, and he’s got some tough decisions to make. When he’s ready to make that decision, he’ll let us all know. As a family, we’re going to support whatever he does.”
Notably, recently, USC head coach Andy Enfield left the team to become the head coach at SMU. Not only this, but Meechie Johnson, who is also a close friend of the family, decided to play in Columbus after playing for South Carolina for the last two years. Bronny averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists in the 25 games he played this season. In the Pac-12, the Trojans went 15-18 and 8-12.
Bronny made his return to the court after suffering a cardiac arrest last summer during a team workout in July due to a congenital heart defect. While LeBron has time and again expressed his desire to play with his son before retirement, he discussed his own future recently. Speaking about his future, he said, “Not very long. I’m on the other side, obviously, of the hill. I’m not gonna play another 21 years, that’s for damn sure. But not very long. I don’t know when that door will close as far as when I’ll retire. But I don’t have much time left.”
