In the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant has looked formidable with his bat. The southpaw has notched up two tons and a couple of fifties in six innings of three games played so far. Talking about his overall performance, he has amassed 425 runs and is the second-highest run-getter in the series. However, despite his sensational batting numbers, some formers of the sport feel that the 27-year-old should do a conventional style of batting rather than his unorthodox one. Amidst these talks, former India batter and now a renowned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has backed Pant’s batting style.

Manjrekar feels Rishabh Pant deserves to play with the attacking approach as England are now scared of the wicketkeeper batter. He also mentioned that India’s batting lineup has to shape up better. “Rishabh Pant will play in his way no matter what the situation is. He should get that license because he deserves it. The batting unit has to function well. Jaiswal must think a bit about how he got out. He should make use of his form. Pant, I feel, is a big player at No. 5. He is a batter who England fear,” said Manjrekar on Star Sports.

Sanjay Manjrekar highlights Shubman Gill’s failure in Lord’s Test

Sanjay Manjrekar also highlighted India captain Shubman Gill’s batting failure in the Lord’s Test. Manjrekar also said Gill is required to introspect during the gap between the third and fourth match. “I feel he has the ability to carry form. Maybe there will be some introspection in this gap. He should look at whether the altercation was necessary or should he just focus on captaincy. If he does that, then his run-making machine will run again at Old Trafford,” added Manjrekar.

After playing an incredible innings of 269 and 161 at Edgbaston, Shubman Gill failed to be effective as a batter, scoring only 16 and six in the match played at iconic Lord’s.
