With Australia also finishing their tour of New Zealand, players like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Marsh, Mitchell Starc among others will now take the field in the IPL 2024. While it serves as the final preparation for the marquee event, Australia Head Coach Andrew McDonald hinted at the possibility of Marsh leading the side at the T20 World Cup.

Speaking at the conclusion of Australia’s tour of New Zealand, Head Coach Andrew McDonald asserted that all roads now lead to Mitchell Marsh, hinting of him taking over as the captain of Australia in the shortest format of the game. “I think all roads will lead to Mitch, so just got to get that ticked off in certain areas,” said Andrew McDonald.

It is to be noted that McDonald along with Chief Selector George Bailey and Tony Dodemaide will have the final call on Australia’s captain for the T20 World Cup 2024. Moreover, talking about Marsh, the side have won T20I series against South Africa, West Indies and New Zealand under Marsh’s captaincy in the last 12 months after he was named the interim captain after Finch’s retirement.

“We’re happy and comfortable with the way he’s been able to operate with that T20 team. We think he’s the leader for the World Cup, and I think that will just be a matter of due course,” the Australian head coach concluded.
