After the Indian men's and women’s hockey teams clinched medals at the Asian Games 2023, a plethora of cash awards are coming their way, courtesy Hockey India and the Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik. There were a couple of separate cash awards announced by the CM for Amit Rohidas and Deep Grace Ekka, who belong to the state of Odisha.

For the unversed, the Indian men’s hockey team stayed unbeaten at the Asian Games 2023, winning the final against Japan by a convincing margin of 5-1, to clinch their fourth gold medal at the multi-sporting continental event. In the women’s competition, India had to settle for bronze with a victory against Japan by 2-1, after losing the semi-final to hosts China with a 0-4 scoreline.
Hockey India sent out tweets to announce a cash award of INR 5 Lakh each for the men’s team players and INR 2.5 Lakh each for the support staff. For each of the women’s team players, they announced INR 3 Lakh cash award, while each member of the support staff will receive INR 1.5 Lakh.
The CM of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik sent out a tweet to announce INR 5 Lakh each cash award for the men’s team players and support staff. For each of the women’s team players and support staff, the cash award is going to be INR 3 Lakh.
Furthermore, the Odisha CM revealed that Amit Rohidas will take home INR 1.5 Crore, while Deep Grace Ekka will walk away with INR 50 Lakh for their contribution to the medal winning campaign of India in hockey at the Asian Games 2023.
