After a strong performance in the group stage of Asia Cup 2022, Team India has succumbed to back-to-back defeats against Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the Super Four stage of the competition. The result has put India on the brink of elimination.

While the Men in Blue initially started off with a five-wicket win against Pakistan and also defeated Hong Kong by 40 runs, they later faltered completely and crushed the hopes of all Indian fans when they lost to arch-rivals Pakistan in their first Super Four match and then losing to Sri Lanka by 6 wickets.

Here in this article, we will have a look at the remaining schedule and see whether is there any chance for India to qualify for Asia Cup 2022 finals.

Remaining schedule of Asia Cup 2022:

September 7:
Pakistan vs Afghanistan in Sharjah
September 8: India vs Afghanistan in Dubai
September 9: Sri Lanka vs Pakistan in Dubai

-Now India can get a maximum of 2 points only in the Super Four stage of Asia Cup 2022.

- Sri Lanka already have 4 points, thus they are ahead of the Indian side in the points table. So, Pakistan and Afghanistan shouldn't win more than one game in Asia Cup 2022 for India to qualify as the second team in finals of Asia Cup 2022.

- Meanwhile, Pakistan already have 2 points in the super four stage and must lose both their matches from here for India to be in contention.

Hence, if the following happens then still India can qualify for Asia Cup 2022 finals:

- Pakistan should lose both their remaining matches to Afghanistan and Sri Lanka on the 7th and 9th of September.

- India should beat Afghanistan by a good margin in such a way that they can be ahead of Pakistan in NRR (in case PAK loses both their matches by a close margin only).

If the above two scenarios happen then Sri Lanka will top the points table with 6 points while India, Pakistan and Afghanistan will end up with 2 points and the team with the better Net run rate (NRR) among IND, PAK and AFG will join Sri Lanka in Asia Cup 2022 finals.
