Indian team in the sixth edition of ODI World Cup 1996 performed pretty well in the group stage of the tournament with the help of Sachin Tendulkar's consistent form. Indian fans who wished to see the second WC title ended up being completely disappointed after losing the semi-final game to Sri Lanka in an unexpected fashion and notably, the Lankans who were considered underdogs of this tournament went on to clinch their first ODI WC title.
