When you enter a contest as big as an IPL final, irrespective of how you reached that big, burly final match stage, whether teetering on your way or thanks to sheer consistency, the idea is to put the right step forward. And that is exactly what the Royal Challengers Bangalore would be wanting to do next when they face that last big hurdle that stands where it does between them and the IPL crown: Punjab Kings.
But having said that, should the RCB be even wary of the fact as to how they performed in when they last played a contest at the Narendra Modi Stadium, venue for the big final contest? Better still, should they be even concerned about just how strong or poor a record have to had at this particular venue, especially ahead of the final contest?
Irrespective of what one thinks or what the popular cricket critic says or what a blogger has to say, facts are facts and the numbers... well, they don't lie- do they?
Truth certainly is that the RCB seem to be having what could, at best, be described a lukewarm record in terms of game results achieved at this particular Ahmedabad venue.
Here's why and how that is: thus far, the RCB have played no fewer than 6 games at the big stadium that is to hold the IPL 2025 final contest. Interestingly, and their worst critics may not like the fact but the RCB don't have a hopeless record at this venue but nor do they have something sensational up their sleeve when playing at Ahmedabad.
They've won as many games here as they've lost.
And that number is 3. Remember the figure. 3.
Let's delve into a bit more detail:
The RCB first played a game here in the year 2015 and that contest was against Rajasthan Royals, whom they beat by a comprehensive margin of 9 wickets. That was then. The most recent that they've played a contest at the said venue was also, interestingly, against RR, but in the year 2024, so not too while ago in the past.
But on that occasion, the Bangalore unit lost the game. It was the eliminator contest of the previous or the 2024 season, which Rajasthan won by a margin of 4 wickets.
So two notable things that emerge from RCB's record at the Ahmedabad ground are as following:
They've lost as many games on the venue as they've won them. That is three contests.
Their first and most recent contest at the venue came against the Rajasthan Royals and most recently, circa 2024, May 22 of the previous year, the Bangalore team lost the contest.
What can happen this time around? Remember, it's always a new day and that gives the team and its talents a fresh chance to begin, to begin anew!
That said, the following numbers are worth looking at:
RCB's IPL statistics at Narendra Modi Stadium

So what do you notice?
The thing that should please Punjab mightily is that where it comes to RCB at this venue, then the southern franchise has won just a single contest played here from its past 4 contests.
If that doesn't excite PBKS then what will?
