Ever since Ravindra Jadeja was sacked from captaincy by CSK management midway through the last IPL season, there were many rumours flying around about how sour the relationship between the two parties had become.
But recently, in the build-up to IPL 2023 season, the pictures and video of current CSK captain MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja in a comfortable and jovial mood at the Chepauk Stadium, Chennai went viral on social media, which promptly put those rumours to rest.
According to a media report, MS Dhoni actually had a frank discussion with Ravindra Jadeja on behalf of Chennai Super Kings to mend fences and get everyone on the same page way before the IPL 2023 build-up had begun for the franchise at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.
A CSK official was quoted as saying to Cricbuzz about the return of Ravindra Jadeja to the team, “Jaddu is fine, he is happy to be back with the team and is very keen to do well. He is looking forward to the season.”
It was during IPL 2022 season when MS Dhoni shared his honest view about Ravindra Jadeja’s captaincy, in the post-match chat on May 1st after facing off against Sunrisers Hyderabad, which had reportedly sowed the seed of misunderstanding between the two.
Dhoni was quoted as saying “I think Jadeja knew last season he'd be captaining this year. For the first two games, I oversaw his work and let him be later. After that, I insisted he'd take his own decisions and responsibility for them. Once you become captain, it means a lot of demands come in. But it affected his mind as the tasks grew. I think captaincy burdened his prep and performances.”
