The T20 World Cup 2024 has kick started in the USA and the Caribbean islands with the co-hosts in USA registering a comfortable win over Canada in the tournament opener on June 2 (IST). However, the tournament will run for a month, Rohit Sharma-led Team India will open their campaign on June 5 when they take on Ireland at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

While the fans will be hoping that the Men in Blue get the T20 title back home, Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Riyan Parag opened up on how he’ll cheer for Team India. Speaking at The Ranveer Show, Riyan Parag revealed that he doesn’t watch World Cup and seemed more cared about it if he would have featured in the tournament.

"It will be a biased answer (prediction on top four teams) but to be very honest I don't even want to watch the World Cup. I'll just see who is winning it at the end and I'll be happy. When I will play the World Cup, I will think about top four and all of that," Riyan Parag said in an interview.

Watch Riyan Parag's bold statement on T20 World Cup:

Earlier, the 22-year-old had expressed to play for Team India at some point in time. “At some time, you’ll have to take me, right? So that is my belief, I’m going to play for India. I don’t really care when,” he has told PTI in an exclusive chat.

“When I was not scoring runs - I said this in an earlier interview as well - that I am going to play for India. This me believing in myself. That is not me being arrogant. That was my plan with my dad (former Railways and Assam player Parag Das) when I started playing cricket at around 10 years old. We (a joint point) were going to play for India regardless of anything,” he further added.

The RR all-rounder amassed 573 runs from 14 matches in IPL 2024, finishing as the highest run-scorer for the Royals and the third-highest run-getter overall after Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad.
