Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli opened up on his urgent hospitalisation, and said that he is doing better. Kambli also shared a message for his childhood friend and legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. Notably, Kambli was admitted to a hospital a few days ago after his health deteriorated. While his health has been stable, his medical examinations revealed clots in his brain. However, according to the latest reports, the 52-year-old is doing better.
Yesterday, the cricketer shared the first update from the hospital and thanked doctors for the medical facilities they have been providing him. Not only this, but he also credited them as the reason he is still alive. Moreover, Kambli expressed his gratitude for all the good things he has received. He said, "I would say that the doctors are the reason I am alive. Because of the medical staff and their efforts, I am here today. I am grateful for everything I have received.”
I am thankful to Sachin Tendulkar: Vinod Kambli sends message for childhood friend
On Tuesday, December 24, Kambli shared the latest update from the hospital and said that he is doing much better. Not only this, but he also sent a special message to childhood friend Sachin Tendulkar thanking him for his blessings. He told ANI, "I am feeling better now...I will never leave this (cricket) because I remember the number of centuries and double centuries I have hit...We are three left-handers in the family. I am thankful to Sachin Tendulkar as his blessings have always been with me….” While the former cricketer shared a positive update from the hospital, doctors suggested that his brain is not stable.
Dr Vivek Dwivedi told ANI that Kambli had a high-grade fever when he was admitted. He also noted that while Kambli’s vitals are stable, his treatment and physiotherapy are going. The doctor said, “Upon investigation, we discovered he had a urine infection, as well as sodium and potassium deficiencies, which caused the cramps. A brain scan revealed old clots, likely from a recent stroke. He was admitted to the ICU due to low blood pressure. While his vitals are stable, his treatment and physiotherapy continue. We are planning to discharge him in 2-3 days. However, his brain condition is not stable, with degenerative changes observed.”
Notably, Kambli has represented India in 17 Tests and 104 One-Day Internationals. He has recorded over 3000 runs at the international level, and is also the fastest Indian cricketer to reach the landmark of 1000 Test runs. Kambli took 14 innings to achieve the milestone.
