Former Australia skipper Michael Clarke has given his views on Virat Kohli’s retirement reports. Before India’s upcoming five-match Test tour against England, Rohit Sharma retired from Test cricket and shocked India’s supporters. Three days after the 38-year-old’s decision, reports emerged that Kohli is also pondering retirement from red-ball cricket. The news shocked cricketing world, and apart from Michael Clarke, West Indies legend Brian Lara urged the India veteran to not retire from the longest format of the sport, The fans of the 36-year-old are also urging the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to stop the legendary batter from taking retirement.

Clarke recently appeared in an interview with RevSportz and hoped the news isn’t true as the World Cup 2015-winning skipper feels Virat has a lot of Test cricket left in him. "I hope the rumours aren’t true. I believe Virat still has a lot of Test runs in him and any team with him in it is a better team," said Clarke to RevSportz.

BCCI to announce Team India for England in May’s third week, claims report

As per a PTI report, BCCI will announce Team India for the five Tests against England in the third week of May. However, the board will declare India A side early next week. The report also claims Tamil Nadu batter Sai Sudharsan is expected to earn a spot in Team India. The left-handed batter has looked brilliant with his bat for Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 apart from his impressive numbers in first-class cricket.

There are also some reports which assert that Virat Kohli might be handed the captaincy role as the move will help Shubman Gill to sharpen his leadership skills under the supervision of the star player. "It is true that selectors did think about having Kohli as India skipper for the England series. This would have given Gill some time to grow into a leadership role, but at 25-and-a-half years of age, he is yet to hit his peak. Due to Bumrah's fitness issues, Gill looks like the obvious choice for Ajit Agarkar's committee," said a BCCI source to the media.
