Following the departure of Ravi Shastri as India's head coach, the first overseas tour for the team turned out to be a nightmare. After losing the Test series, the Men in Blue were absolutely outplayed in the ODI series as they succumbed to a 3-0 whitewash. Many former cricketers have criticized the players for their poor performances in last couple of days but Shastri is not one of them.

After being asked about players, the 59-year-old refused to make any comment on them. He claimed that the day he left the job, he was very clear that he won't talk about any of his players in public.

“I took a break after seven years in the game, been part of the team. One thing is very clear, I do not wash dirty linen in public. I was very clear, the day I finished, I will be blank. I don’t want to discuss any of my players on a public platform,” said Shastri as quoted by NDTV.

The former Indian coach added that there is nothing to worry about for Team India. "How can the standard go down suddenly? For five years, you have been number one side in the world. Nothing is missing, nothing can be done. You can't win every game. What is there to worry about?" added Shastri.

You have to respect Kohli's decision: Ravi Shastri

Although he shied away from talking about any individuals, Ravi Shastri did open up on the decision of Virat Kohli to step down as India's Test captain.

He said, "It’s his choice. You have to respect his decision. There is a time for everything. A lot of big players in the past have left captaincy when they felt they wanted to focus on their batting or on their cricket. Whether it’s (Sachin) Tendulkar, (Sunil) Gavaskar or (MS) Dhoni. And, it’s Virat Kohli now. "
