Former Ultimate Featherweight and Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor reacted to Charles Olive i ra’s offer of being a backup during his fight against Michael Chandler. McGregor is set to return to the UFC after three years and he will fight against his arch-rival Michael Chandler on June 29, at the UFC 303. McGregor broke his leg during a fight against Dustin Poirier in a row in July 2021 and underwent surgery post that.
However, three years later, The Irishman is all set to return to the cage, and the fight is slated for June 29, 2024, in Las Vegas. A month before the fight, former undisputed lightweight champion Charles Oliveira offered to serve as the backup fighter to the bout, where McGreor will fight Chandler.
However, McGregor reacted to the offer and said that he could fight them both. The 35-year-old tweeted, “I do yous both in the same night, no sweat. I do yous both inside of a round. Combined. I got the magic paws ask Rio and São Paulo about me and my magic. The Irish Wand.”
Conor McGregor claims UFC 303 will cross $20 million
Former two-time UFC champion Conor McGregor claimed that the forthcoming UFC 303 would shatter all records and cross the $20 million live gate mark. McGregor tweeted, “Excited to break the 20 million dollar gate mark for the first time in ufc history! Another first for the Mac daddy. SEE YOU IN VEGAS.” Notably, UFC 205, UFC 229, and UFC 264 are currently the highest pay-per-views gates in UFC history.
Interestingly, all the events had Conor McGregor fighting in the headline event. The UFC 205 featured McGregor against Eddie Alvarez, UFC 229 had him against Khabib Nurmagomedov and UFC 264 had Dustin Poirier against McGregor. No UFC fight has crossed the $20 million mark so far.
