World number 8 tennis player Andrey Rublev cast his doubts on the newest partnership of former tennis pro Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic. Notably, 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic shocked the tennis fraternity by announcing Andy Murray as his new coach. The news caused sensations among fans and pundits as opinions flew around over whether the partnership could help the Serbian icon.
While announcing Murray as his coach, Djokovic said, We played each other since we were boys. Twenty-five years of being rivals, of pushing each other beyond our limits. ..We had some of the most epic battles in our sport. They called us game changers, risk takers, history makers. I thought our story may be over. It turns out, it has one final chapter. It's time for one of my toughest opponents to step into my corner. Welcome on board coach Andy Murray."
I don’t know if Murray will be able to contribute: Andrey Rublev on Andy Murray-Novak Djokovic partnership
Andrey Rublev said, “Novak is one of the best players in history, so I don’t know if Murray will be able to contribute anything. But the positive energy, stemming from their friendship, can sometimes be more beneficial than anything else at this level. Djokovic knows everything about tennis, he understands it better than anyone, and if they are friends, he may feel something different and, for example, appear fresher or more motivated.”
He added, “It will be interesting because sometimes, Nole is too emotional on the court and speaks harshly to his team, so I am curious to see how Murray reacts in those situations.”
