Manchester United captain and Brazil star footballer Bruno Fernandes has confirmed his decision to stay at Old Trafford amid the continuing rumors about his uncertain future with the side. The talks ignited, following his interview last month where he casted doubt on his future with the Red Devils.

Bruno was assigned the captaincy of the United in 2023, replacing Harry Maguire. Under his tenure this season, United finished eighth in the Premier League standings apart from ending at the bottom of the Champions League. However, on this Saturday, they will take on their rivals, Manchester City in the FA Cup final which could salvage their season.

Clarifying his take on his stay at Old Trafford, Bruno told the Player’s Tribune, “I love to step out at Old Trafford more than anything in the world. I don’t want to leave. This has always been my ultimate dream.” Earlier, he had stated his expectations with the club and wanted to match them.

“I just want my expectations to fit with the expectations of the club. If you go talk to any fan, they will tell you the same thing. We want to compete in the league. We want to be playing Champions League football. We want to be in the Cup finals. That’s the standard,” he had told in an interview to DAZN.

Bruno joined Erik Tan Hag’s side in 2020 and since then, he has appeared in 232 games, netting 79 goals. Also, he was recently announced as the Man United’s Player of the Year which was his third one with them. In the history of the club, only David de Gea and Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo have achieved this feat more.
