The boxing bout between Jake Paul and Nate Diaz, scheduled for August 5 in Dallas, will now last ten rounds instead of the original eight. After Diaz suggested the change last week, the two boxers agreed to the adjustment. On Tuesday, the Texas Department of Licencing and Regulation (TDLR) approved 10 rounds for the fight, and BoxRec, the official record and schedule database for boxing, has already been updated to reflect the change.

Paul will be the first social media crossover star in the sport to compete in a 10-round battle but he has never competed in one and former UFC superstar Diaz will make his professional boxing debut. The battle between Paul and Diaz was initially scheduled to last eight rounds, but Diaz requested a rule adjustment while asserting that Paul's best chance of winning is in the early rounds.

"If I'm going to get knocked out, it's going to be right off the gate or the next three f****ng rounds," Diaz predicted. Paul then agreed to increase the number of rounds after Diaz's proposal as he tweeted: "I guess he has good cardio. Ok Nathan, 10 rounds it is."

In February, Jake Paul suffered his first professional boxing defeat at the hands of Tommy Fury. The 26-year-old has victories against MMA competitors including former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and twice-declared UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.

Nate Diaz, 38, has sparred with boxers like Regis Prograis and Andre Ward, but this will be his first time participating in a sanctioned fight. He has a huge following from his 15-year career, which included a 2016 victory over Conor McGregor by rear-naked choke.
