Fernando Alonso expressed that he wants to race in Formula 1 for a few more years as he believes Aston Martin’s project is more ambitious than Alpine's. This is also what pushed him to move teams at age 41. His contract with the French team was ending at the end of the season. But the Spaniard had different ideas.

Instead of retiring, Alonso signed a ‘multi-year contract’ with the Aston Martin for the 2023 season. The Reports say that Fernando has signed a 3-year-long contract and will be on the grid till the 2025 season at least. The Spaniard believes that there is still a lot of racing left in him.

And believes that he will complete his contract with Aston Martin before calling it a career. He said, “I hope to be in Formula 1 for at least two or three more years. I think I am still at 100 per cent. And then, from there, a challenge that I have never hidden is to try the Dakar again.”

Talking about the Dutch GP, Fernando Alonso had a great performance in Zandorvoot as he finished seventh, which later became sixth when Carlos Sainz’s penalty was applied. After the main race, the Spaniard expressed elation with the result and praised the team for their strategy as they made up places after a slow start.

He said, “It was a good race for us today finishing sixth and scoring more points in the standings. We lost a few places obviously at the start, but we made some ground back and stopped very early for the Hard tyre.

“The pace of the car was good, and we continued to make progress. The only moment of the race where I felt we could relax a little bit was when we fitted the Softs and everything seemed set for us, but then the Safety Car came out and changed everything.”

Alonso then expressed excitement about racing in Italy as he has been in a good run of form over the last few races. He said, We had to fight hard until the last lap with those behind us on fresher tyres and it was like a Qualifying session until the chequered flag. It’s a good result again for the team and my tenth points finish in a row, so let’s keep this up next weekend in Italy!”
