Aakash Chopra has returned to entertain cricket fans with his witty commentary style. During the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025 contest between India and Bangladesh in Dubai, former India opener was seen taking dig at the Pakistan cricket team. In the opening match of the ODI event in Karachi, the defending champions faced a 60-run defeat at the hands of New Zealand. Following the hosts’ loss, Pakistan supporters looked relentless against their team as they feel the Men in Green are dropping the opportunity to make the competition bigger for them as the hosts. Pakistan are hosting their first ICC tournament after 29 years. Back in 1996, Pakistan co-hosted the World Cup 1996 along with India and Sri Lanka.
During the match, commentators were heard discussing Pakistan’s last night performance against New Zealand. Amidst the discussion, Chopra passed a remark about Pakistan fans’ frustration against their side, saying "Pakistan ka favourite pastime hai apne logon ko udaana." Team Pakistan have often seen themselves at the receiving end due to their humiliating performances. Former cricketers Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and Basit Ali have been avid supporters of their team but they have also donned the role of staunch critics when the team fails to perform as per their reputation.
Pakistan will have to cross India challenge successfully to survive in the tournament
Defending champions Pakistan will have to beat their arch-rivals India in the high-octane encounter, set to be played in Dubai on February 23, to stay alive in the tournament. Pakistan haven’t won any ODI match against their neighbours after their famous 180-run win against India in the Champions Trophy 2017.
In their last ODI meeting at the World Cup 2023 in Ahmedabad, India hammered the green shirts by seven wickets. Rohit Sharma and his men will look to continue their domination against Pakistan.
