Ever since Rohit Sharma took over India’s captaincy full-time, there is a visible change in how players are going about their business. There seems to be much more clarity among players and also a bit of flexibility. The Indian team management has tried more than three dozen players since the T20 World Cup and interestingly enough, all of them have contributed to the team’s win in some way or the other.

Be it young pacer Arshdeep Singh, or never-out-of-contention Sanju Samson, every player has found a role to play for the team. Now, with two big tournaments due to take place in the next three months, the selectors and the management have resorted back to the regular players. The BCCI Selection Committee picked the squad for the Asia Cup and the top names found their respective places.

The likes of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul made a comeback but there is also someone like Arshdeep Singh who is settling into the team. But as the regulars are back, will the captain and coach duo of Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid take a back seat or will they continue to tell players what they want from them? Captain Rohit Sharma talked about it in Follow the Blues show and revealed that the two want to keep things simple and ensure no confusion among players.

Rohit said that his style of captaincy has been somehow the same throughout his career where he has tried to instill confidence in individuals by giving them role clarity. “What I have done over the years with the Mumbai Indians franchise and also the time I have led India is just keeping things very very simple and not complicating things too much. Whatever I have spoken before about giving guys that freedom and making them understand their role, that’s what I will be expecting of myself. That is what I want to do for the team and for the players,” said Sharma.

“I want to make sure there is no confusion. That is the last thing you want, especially when we are playing a high-profile tournament. So, we (Rohit and Rahul Dravid) want to make sure all of that is taken care of. And that is where my role becomes very crucial along with Rahul bhai,” the Indian captain added.
