The Rock, one of the biggest Hollywood actors and a WWE-lifer, made his return to SmackDown at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans on Friday, February 21, changing the trajectory of the Road to WrestleMania in an instant. After calling out the WWE Champion Cody Rhodes to the squared circle, The Rock gave an ultimatum about wanting him to be his champion, needing an answer from him by Saturday, March 1, at the WWE Elimination Chamber PLE before clarifying that he wants his soul.
It was just a day prior to SmackDown going live-on-air on the USA Network, the announcement of The Rock’s latest return to the WWE came from the man himself on social media, which surprised the wrestling community since he wasn’t expected to be a feature on this year’s Road to WrestleMania. Following his grand entrance in front of thousands in attendance at the Smoothie King Center, the People’s Champion announced that WrestleMania 42 will be making its return to the Superdome in New Orleans next year.

When the WWE Champion showed up inside the ring at the behest of The Rock, the latter went on to reveal that he and Cody Rhodes became good friends after they battled in a tag team match last year at WrestleMania 40. But at the same time, the Final Boss also reminded everyone about how he is now the most powerful man in the WWE due to being on the TKO Board of Directors, who own the promotion.
It led to The Rock offering a proposition to Cody Rhodes to be his champion and his brother after The American Nightmare has been able to be a great WWE Champion for the fans. The Final Boss wanted to take Cody Rhodes to the next level, his level, and he wanted his answer to be not tonight, but at the WWE Elimination Chamber PLE from the Rogers Centre in Toronto in just eight days’ time.
After The Rock seemingly gestured towards the WWE Championship on Cody Rhodes’ shoulder, stating that he wants it more than anything in the world, the American Nightmare asked him whether it’s about his title. In response, The Final Boss gave a clarification to him, categorically saying that he wants his soul before they stared down each other.
