Extension in number of international matches and enhancement of the ICC Women's Championship to a 10-team event are couple of highlights of maiden women's Future Tours Program that outlines the international cricket calendar for over the next three years.

300 matches, including seven Test matches, 135 ODIs and 159 T20Is will be played as part of the 2022-25 FTP, which is an increase in the number of matches from the previous cycle. Bangladesh and Ireland are two additional teams in the ICC Women's Championship 2022-25. Multi-format two Ashes series consisting of one Test, three ODIs and as many T20Is, one in England in June 2023 and other in Australia in January 2025 and ICC Women’s World Cup in India towards the end of April in 2025 are a few most notable decisions in the fresh FTC cycle.

ICC General Manager of Cricket, Wasim Khan claimed that its a huge moment for the women's game and the FTP not only lends certainty to future cricket tours but sets the perfect foundation which will lead to the growth of women's cricket.

"The ICC Women's Championship, which outlines the FTP, is instrumental in propelling the game to altogether another level and the crucial competition we are witnessing between teams is the result of greater number of matches that women have got to play because of the IWC. I thank the Member Boards in helping draft this historic FTP, which I am sure will go a long way in taking the women's game to the next level," he quoted.
