Although Iceland is famous for many things including its volcanoes and glaciers, cricket may not be the first thing that comes to one's mind on hearing about the country. Yet Iceland have huge cricketing ambitions. On Monday they decided to put it out in a tweet, listing cricketing nations that they have beaten and a full-time International Cricket Council member they would like to beat.

However, the fact that Iceland decided to mention inventors of cricket- England- as the team they could predict in the future appears also be to a slight dig at the Three Lions' form. Notably, while England have rediscovered themselves in limited-overs cricket and are the current 50 Overs champions and were top-contenders for the T20 World Cup last year, their form in Test match cricket hasn't been great lately.

In fact, England faced a humiliating 4-0 defeat in the Ashes Down Under and failed to win a single Test. Their best result was a hard-fought draw in the fourth Test match of the five-match series at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Following the result, England have received a lot of criticism but Iceland Cricket's tweet can be perceived as both- funny and witty at the same time.

Check out their tweet here:

Iceland Cricket did not stop there but put out a series of tweets, all hilarious in nature. Responding to reports that suggested that the English Test team suffered due to the presence of players in the IPL, Iceland Cricket tweet stated that only one England-born player took part in the Icelandic Premier League.

Before the England team members of their board could even respond, Iceland Cricket themselves have asked for an apology from the England and Wales Cricket Board in a funny manner. They tweeted: "Yesterday we listed a number of national teams that we deem beatable, causing outrage. We would like to ask @ECB_cricket to apologize for our need to contextualize their form via comparison with our capacities and fellow minnows. Show some respect to the lower tiers."
