The Intel Extreme Masters, aka IEM Cologne 2024, is underway featuring 24 teams. Sixteen teams are competing in the Play-In stage to earn one of eight spots in the Group Stage. They will join eight teams that have already qualified, including big names like NAVI, Vitality, and Spirit. Check out the latest IEM 2024 results, schedule, teams, and more.

IEM Cologne 2024  Format

Play-In Stage

The Play-In stage uses a double-elimination bracket, where all matches are best-of-three (Bo3). The top eight teams from this stage will advance to the Group Stage.

Group Stage

In the Group Stage, there are two groups, each with eight teams, following a double-elimination format (GSL). All matches are Bo3. The top three teams from each group will move on to the Playoffs:

  • Group winners go straight to the Semifinals.
  • Runners-up advance to the Quarterfinals as the High Seeds.
  • Third-place teams advance to the Quarterfinals as the Low Seeds.

Playoffs

The Playoffs are a single-elimination bracket. The Quarterfinals and Semifinals are Bo3, while the Grand Final is best-of-five (Bo5).
