Star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah opened up on Mohammed Shami’s inclusion in the Border Gavaskar Trophy squad. Notably, Bumrah is set to represent India in the opening Test of the five-match Test series against Australia, set to be played from November 22 to 26 at the Optus Stadium in Perth. The match will see the absence of skipper Rohit Sharma due to the birth of his second child and Bumrah will shoulder responsibility of the captain.
Ahead of the opening Test, Bumrah addressed the media and spoke about Shami’s chances of making it to the squad. Notably, Shami has been out of the international cricketing sphere for more than a year due to his injuries. The fast-bowler made his comeback to competitive cricket during Bengal’s clash against MP in the Ranji Trophy. However, the bowler missed the cut of being in India’s squad for the BGT Trophy. However, the stand-in Indian skipper commented on Shami’s chances of being in the squad and dropped a hint on his possible return. Bumrah said, “We have finalised our combination. You'll come to know it tomorrow. Shami has been an integral part and the management is keeping a close eye. If everything goes well, you might see him here as well.”
