With a day prior to the much awaited final of the Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai, Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma showed confidence on star batter and the Indian team to win the title. Rajkumar believes that Kohli’s role will be crucial if India lift the title on Sunday and hailed Men in Blue for their performance in the tournament so far. India are set face New Zealand in the title on March 9.
"It is a big match. The way India is playing in this tournament, I hope they will perform and win the final match. So far, India has won all the matches, and everyone is contributing. They are playing like a good team, so I am very confident that the team will win the title," Rajkumar Sharma was quoted as saying by India Today.
"I am really hopeful that Virat Kohli will continue his form and the way he is playing. If he continues to play like this, then India will definitely win this game," he further added.
Virat Kohli on verge of becoming all-time leading scorer in Champions Trophy
After struggling with the form from the couple of months, Virat Kohli finally his rhythm back and is currently India’s leading run scorer in the ongoing Champions Trophy. The right-hander has amassed 217 runs from four matches in the tournament so far which included a hundred against Pakistan and a match-winning 84 runs in the semi-final against New Zealand. Now, as India are set to play the final, Kohli is on the verge of getting another milestone in the Champions Trophy history.
Virat Kohli currently has 746 runs from 17 matches in his Champions Trophy, and is only behind Chris Gayle who is leading the chart with 791 runs. Kohli now only need 46 runs to surpass Gayle and become all-time highest run score in the history of the Champions Trophy.
