Former India cricketer and one of the most successful captains of India, MS Dhoni enjoys a massive fan following not only in India, but across borders. The stalwart of the game is currently plying his trade in the IPL 2024 for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). However, he retired from international cricket back in 2020, he recently stepped down from CSK captaincy ahead of IPL 2024.
Despite his retirement, his presence on the field is one to watch for. In one of the videos going viral, his wife Sakshi Singh Dhoni can be seen talking about the wicketkeeper-batter’s sudden retirement from Test cricket. It is to be noted that MS Dhoni called off his career in the longest format of the game in 2014.
“When he stepped down from Test cricket, we always had a hint that he is going to step down. I even remember telling him, ‘If you want a child you should step down from at least one format because you won’t have time to enjoy with your child,” Sakshi said in the video.
“Even when Ziva happened, everyone in the hospital was like ‘oh your husband is not coming! I said ‘it doesn’t matter’. Cricket is his priority, and he is my priority. So, whatever is his priority is my priority. People tell me I had to sacrifice so much being his wife. I say, ‘NO, nothing it’s all love’. When you are in love, you cannot call it sacrifice,” she added.

Speaking of MS Dhoni, he passed on the CSK captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad on the eve of the IPL 2024 opener in a shocking move. In the 2024 edition of the tournament, the 42-year-old has scored 39 runs from three innings, with his highest score of 37* coming against Delhi Capitals in Vizag. The CSK will next take on Mumbai Indians on Sunday, April 14 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
