W orld No. 1 Iga Swiatek on Saturday, 20th January crashed out of the Australian Open 2024 after suffering a loss at the hands of 19-year-old Linda Noskova. The teenage sensation defeated the top-ranked in a thriller, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to move to the fourth round of the Australian Open 2024.

The Polish star started her third round match as a favourite, sealing the first set 6-3 from Noskova at the Rod Laver Arena. However, thereafter things turned as the Czech staged an impressive return, winning the second set 6-3. The 19-year-old continued her brilliance in the final set, causing an upset to the World No. 1.

The 19-year-old Czech crouched on the floor after registering this massive win over the World No. 1. The Czech broke down in tears as she expressed herself for this monumental win. “Obviously, I’m speechless. I knew it would be an amazing match with World No. 1 and such a player. I didn’t think it would end up like this. I’m just really glad to get through this round,” Noskova said after the win.

Linda Noskova will play the winner of Elina Svitolina and Viktorija Golubic next in the Round of 16. Whereas the top ranked player will join Elena Rybakina and Ons Jabeur.
