Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Robin Uthappa recently stated that if given the chance to coach in the Indian Premier League (IPL), he would "certainly consider" doing so. He also mentioned his understanding of the calibre of some of the league's clubs. In IPL 2022, Uthappa played his final IPL game for Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

As a player, he has won two IPL titles, one each with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and CSK. Robin Uthappa hopes to utilise his IPL playing experience in his new role as a coach. The former India batsman has stated that if given the chance to coach in the IPL, he wouldn't think twice before accepting the role.


“It depends, I would certainly love to be involved with the team. If opportunities do come, I’ll certainly consider coaching, I would love to get involved in setting up cricket operations, or as director of cricket, where I feel like, I know what it takes or give a team the best chance to win the game," Uthappa stated to IANS in an interaction on Wednesday. 


After retiring from International Cricket and IPL, Uthappa is now focusing on other leagues in the world. Currently, he is busy in Zimbabwe, playing in the Zim Afro T10 League, where he is representing the Harare Hurricanes, which is led by World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan. Uthappa is the 7th leading run-getter in the tournament and helped the Hurricanes qualify for the knockouts after playing an amazing innings of 53(23) on Wednesday.

Although he did not play international cricket for a very long time. For the Men in Blue, Robin Uthappa could play 13 T20 matches and 46 ODIs. He enjoyed good success on the home circuit and in the IPL. In addition to the two IPL championships, Robin Uthappa also won multiple domestic championships with Karnataka.
