Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta has acknowledged that he is obsessed with winning the coveted Premier League (PL) trophy as he has urged his team to build pressure on the table-toppers Liverpool, who have got 61 points through 18 wins in 26 matches in the ongoing PL 2024-25 season. Arsenal will look to beat West Ham on Saturday and accumulate three more points to go close to the Arne Slot-led Liverpool, who will be facing the Manchester City-challenge on Sunday, at the iconic Etihad Stadium. Back in 2004, Arsenal won their last PL title with 26 victories and 12 defeats in 38 matches.
Arsenal, who finished their last two PL editions as the runners-up losing to Manchester City, have looked disciplined thus far again as they are in the second spot on the points tally with 53 points earned through 15 wins off their 25 outings. Talking on his team’s performance and his dream of winning the title, Arteta said he is ready to be diligent to help his team pull off their first title after 21 years.
"I'm obsessed with doing every single thing that I can. Whatever is in our hands, let's do it. There's still a lot a lot to play and you can see how difficult it is for everybody to win football matches. The margins are so small. We have to do our job. It's going to be a tough one tomorrow. If we do that we will be looking at that (Liverpool) game on Sunday,” remarked the Spanish on winning the title for his English club.
Arsenal will look to pass the West Ham challenge to give headache to Liverpool
Arsenal’s next encounter will be against West Ham at the Emirates Stadium on February 22. The North London club has beaten West Ham this season, winning with a 5-2 margin in November 2024 at the London Stadium. This time, their endeavour will be to be superior again West Ham and give chills to the leaders Liverpool.
Liverpool, who are the table-toppers, will face the defending champions Man City in the Sunday clash. Liverpool have played one game extra than other sides, with their 26th appearance against Aston Villa on February 20. The leaders’ last match ended in a stalemate with 2-2 figures.
