Inaugural Women Premier League auction to take place on February 13 in Mumbai

The inaugural edition of Women's Premier League is likely to start from first week of March 2023.

Women Premier League is already setting benchmarks ahead of the start of the tournament. In a big update it has now been confirmed that the inaugural Women Premier League (WPL) auction is set to be held in Mumbai on February 13, 2023. A BCCI official on Wednesday (1 February) confirmed the development on the auction date.

“Auction will be held in Mumbai on 13th Feb. Franchises are comfortable with the date and location and it is easier for the BCCI as well to arrange for logistics in Mumbai. Official announcements will be made soon,” a BCCI official was quoted by InsideSport.

Earlier there were reports that the Women Premier League auction will be held after the International League T20 final, which is scheduled to take place on February 12 (Sunday).

 

Highlighting more on the Women’s Premier League, BCCI earlier in January announced the five team owners for the inaugural leg of the tournament. While Adani Sportsline, who own the Ahmedabad-based franchise secured the highest bid worth INR 1289 Crore, Indiawin Sports Pvt. Ltd (Mumbai), Royal Challengers Sports Pvt. Ltd (Bengaluru), JSW GMR Cricket Pvt. Ltd. (Delhi), Capri Global Holdings Pvt. Ltd. (Lucknow) were the other four bidders.
